It's commonly used on the largest tender engines, such as the Class B and B2, Class J1 and J2, and the Class H and H2.

Trivia
* It is the fourth, and currently the most recent tender added to Steam & Steel.
* Despite being the tender with the largest capacity, it is slightly lighter than the RSR 3-axle tender.
* It is currently the most expensive tender in the game.
* The center axle has no guide sphere nor collision, allowing the tender to take much sharper curves than it might appear capable of without derailing.
* Like all tenders in Steam & Steel, the tender's orientation is not important. It is capable of refueling an engine from either side, including two engines at once. Coupling a tender between two locomotives is an effective way to effectively double your pulling and braking power without needing to buy a second tender.
The RSR 2-Axle tender is mainly used and built for small tender engines, such as the Class A0, Class A1, and A2, and Class D1. However it can also be used with tank engines to give extra coal capacity for those long hauls and long distance trips.
