Class I

[edit | edit source]The RSR Type 1B’WT Class I, more commonly known as the Class I, is a small 2-4-0 well tank engine. It is a small speedy engine perfect for those trips with longer loads and time is of the essence. However, its limited power-to-weight ratio means its hauling capability is lower than engines of a similar price. It is an ideal choice to replace a Class C or Class F for high-speed trains. For heavier high speed loads, the Class P or Class B are more suitable though much more expensive.
The Class I is a tank engine, carrying a maximum of 750kg of coal. This limited fuel capacity hinders the Class I significantly, as it burns through this coal supply quickly. Its coal capacity can be improved through the use of a tender, though this removes the benefits of it being a tank engine.

- It is one of three engines with a nameplate attached, along with the Class K2 and Class P
