Badlands
Description
[edit | edit source]Badlands is Steam & Steel's second community-created map - owing to its' name, it is a large desert with rolling sand dunes. The map features realistic material and height setups owing to the pipeline used for creating the map itself - which was done outside of ROBLOX Studio.
Badlands and Gold Rush are the only two maps in the game that do not give a $5000 subsidy bonus upon first delivering to an industry. As a result, the player must be careful with their starting budget and plan ahead. This adds quite a bit of challenge to these maps.
Initial Depot Configuration
[edit | edit source]Badlands' initial depot configuration offers:
- Two tracks and a switch
- Class C
- Coaling Station
- 5x 17' Stake Wagons
Industries
[edit | edit source]There are 16 unique industry locations for players to interact with for transportation within this map. Badlands along with Gold Rush both have the Oil Well and Oil Refinery as late-game industries. The Oil Well takes Pipes + Machinery + Beams + Tools to produce Crude Oil. Crude Oil can then be taken to the Oil Refinery (along with Coal or Cordwood) to produce Grease, Kerosene, and Chemicals.
Industry Chain
[edit source]
Everything in the "Items Required for Production" section must be fulfilled for the location to produce items unless stated otherwise.
Bonus items increase production times for a location.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Badlands was created alongside Gold Rush at the same time, although Badlands was released over a month after Gold Rush.
- This map is considered one of the least popular with the community due to its lack of subsidies and tendency to be a grind compared to other maps.
